8 Types of Anchor Text and How to Use Them Part 1

Usually, it is highlighted in blue and underlined, but the color of the text can be changed based on the website design.

The link text for a website or blog can be its own name. This means that the name of the website or blog is used as the link. An example of this could be

Exact Keyword Match

Exact keyword match is when you use the exact phrase you are targeting as the link text. For example, if you target the phrase boxing gloves, the exact keyword match anchor text would be boxing gloves.

Partial Keyword Match

Partial keyword match is similar to exact keyword match anchor text. Instead of using the exact keyword phrase, you could use a variation. Suppose you wanted to target the keyword boxing gloves. Your partial keyword match anchor text could be top boxing gloves or affordable boxing gloves.

Related Keywords

Related keywords are words closely related to the keyword phrase you are targeting. For example, if you are targeting the phrase boxing gloves, related keywords would be words related to boxing, such as skipping rope, hand wraps, and mouthguard. These related keywords can help you expand the reach of your search engine optimization efforts.

Navigational Links

Generic links are hyperlinks that don't include any specific wording. Normally, these just show phrases like click here, learn more, or something similar.

URL Naked Links

A URL Naked link is when the actual web address is used as the link text. For instance, the website for Timeout Gear is, so the URL naked link would be, with no extra text or words added.

Article Title Link

Article title linking is when the title of an article is used as the clickable link. For example, if the title of a blog post is Boxing as a Sport for Beginners, the post's title would be the link that takes you to the article when clicked.
